What do you know about history of cosmetics?

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HISTORY OF COSMETICS?
The word "cosmetics' is derived from the Greek word kosmetikos which means to adorn, or the art of beautifying the body,
The history of cosmetics dates back centuries. The Mesolithic Man, the first known creators of beauty treatments, lived more than 10,000 years BC. They used animal grease and castor oil to soften the skin and plant dyes to colour tattoo's, and provide an early form of sun screen. The use of creams to soothe the skin, remove superfluous hair, banish wrinkles and to prevent baldness were also described in Egyptian parchments written more than 3000 years BC. It is also mentioned in the Bible that lotions made from olive oil and spices were used to maintain the skins smoothness and suppleness.
Cosmetic materials used in these times, such as aromatic precious oils and talcum powder, were ground from scented bark and roots. The cosmetics were used for personal care and beautification by men and women in the Ancient near East. Men primarily used, oil to rub into their hair and beard. Women used preparations which included eye paint, powders, rouge and ointments for the body.
The colours for cosmetic preparations came from various minerals. Green eyelid colouring was derived from turquoise or malachite, and black from lead sulphate. For outlining the eyes kohl manganese ore was used. Red ochre was used for lip colouring. Burned woods, bitumen and ivories were also used for colouring.
